Hand Dryer Pricing In the Current Market
This may be a surprise, but the holiday season is sneaking up quick. We understand that a hand dryer under the tree isn’t the ideal present for Christmas morning. As a national supplier, maybe we can help you to rethink your gift shopping as we near the end of 2021. Follow along as we explain what leads to a hand dryer price in this current market.
Why the increases?
During the pandemic, demand on products has skyrocketed leading to price increases across the globe. Various manufacturers have pushed for more rigid price structures to protect themselves from fluctuating availability of their manufacturing materials. Since we aren’t fully sure when we will bounce back into a normal rhythm, it is important to remember what goes into some of the pricing increases.
Many of the products in the construction world do not come from North America. In order to get the material to create the products we love; it needs to travel overseas. Across the ocean or over a border, delays are happening. Lots of things happened over the last year to decrease the availability of material and workers.
Where is my material?
Let’s start with the elephant in the room; COVID-19. Pandemics lead to a reduction in workforce because stricter guidelines go into effect to protect employees. Because of this you may have less workers mining or manufacturing. Less employees means less production. The virus having such an effect has also led to the death or many people across the globe. With large amounts of people dying globally, this leads to a shortage of employees. It’s a sad truth, but the death of your co-worker doesn’t make you want to come into work knowing you may get sick as well. Fear grew leading to people quitting jobs to seek safer employment. North America still needs more people for the workforce.
Where are the shipments?
Cargo ships have gotten stuck making them unable to deliver the goods ordered. Being stuck led to delays. Delays like this create backflow meaning some production times get pushed back by a month or longer. Having your delivery delayed by over 30 days can be a brutal blow when most of us are trying to stay afloat.
Prices are soaring. If you want to expedite your material from other places in the world, the price has quadrupled. Manufacturers are being forced to either pay outrageous prices and then charge the customer an upcharge or just wait. Waiting is hard when we have construction sites trying to get jobs completed and built. Its not just construction materials on those ships though. Medical machinery, metals, toys, plastics, and even foods are stuck on vessels somewhere out there.
Is there a solution?
There is no quick solution to this global issue. People are working on it. We are rebounding from a pandemic and people are rising to make unbelievable things happen. Have you wondered why some companies have survived easier than others during this event though? Many of the companies who manufacture here in the United States are still going strong. Makes sense, right? If you don’t need to wait on products and material from China to build your product, then what’s the hold up? Luckily for companies like Excel Dryer, they manufacture 100% of their XLERATOR hand dryers here in the United States.
Not everyone can product their products here in the states unfortunately. Perhaps that opens up the discussion on whether or not its time to bring more manufacturing back to the US. Until we get there, its important to support those companies that are already manufacturing 100% here in the states.
What about hand dryer prices?
Did the pandemic impact your standard hand dryer price? Yes, it did. Pricing still went up on almost every hand dryer. Excel Dryer just released a price increase actually. Yes, they manufacture here in North America, but they don’t have control of the other markets needed for their products. Stainless steel pricing jumped across the globe. Therefore, stainless steel hand dryers unfortunately jumped in price. With hand washing being a vital part of beating a virus, restroom hygiene became an important part of remodels and construction projects. That means the demand for products skyrocketed. Paper towels, soap dispensers, faucets, and of course hand dryers are in high demand.
This demand meant manufacturers needed more staff, more storage, more boxes, more shipping, more manufacturing overall. Sudden increases like this generally mean a company needs to invest in itself. Excel Dryer fought off a price increase for as long as they could. Be prepared for more price increases from other manufacturers, because the demand for restroom products is still climbing. Let’s hope 2022 brings some relief and we can get access to our favorite products easier. We covered a lot in this short blog. Your hand dryer price may be slightly higher, but remember, if you are buying a product made in America, you are supporting your home. The more manufacturing done in America; the more jobs open up. It’s a tricky world, but buy American made products like the XLERATOR.
XLERATOR means true quality
It’s good to know that when you buy an XLERATOR, you are getting true quality. The units are hand built, manufactured fully in the US, and assembled all by US residents. The competitors of Excel Dryer also increased their hand drying pricing, but when you buy those items, they are cheaper in quality. Coming from China means these items are mass produced on production lines. Go ahead and spend less on a Chinese knock-off, but it won’t last past five years and doesn’t have much of a warranty. Excel Dryer has the best warranties in the industry. Which means that hand dryer price you pay for an XLERATOR guarantees you have a great product that will last.
