3 Steps to Building Physical Distancing into Existing Public Restroom Design
Our friends at Hadrian have developed ideal privacy solutions for existing toilet partitions. This allows Newton to offer great solutions that make it simple and cost effective to upgrade your existing restroom while supporting proper social distancing. 3 ways that Hadrian offers solid solutions are as follows:
Adding Partitions at the Entrance of an Existing Restroom
Don’t want people to worry about touching that germ-covered door handle to the restroom? Easy fix! Remove the entire entrance door. Like completely, 100% gone. No door.
Seem odd? We don’t think so, it helps prevent the spread of germs in a HUGE way. Removing the entrance doors 100% eliminates a primary touch point in the restroom. Of course this only works for larger, multi-person restrooms in public. We don’t want you removing your doors at home to have an open flow restroom, that is not what we are suggesting here. So what stands in the way of people being able to look in whenever they please? Replace the entrance door with free-standing privacy partitions from Hadrian at the entrance. These tall, aesthetically-pleasing walls will obstruct the line of sight into the restroom to ensure maximum privacy when entrance doors are removed.
Super Easy Option, Install Urinal Screens
Most restrooms with multiple urinals already partake in this solution, but, it may be time to replace your existing panels. If you don’t have urinal screens, install them, they are great for preventing the spread of germs between multiple people using the restroom at once. Hadrian offers simple and economical options such as wall-mounted or floor-mounted screens at 48”, 58”, 64”, 72” or 92” high.
So back to updating your existing urinal screens. Many of these dividers are not very tall, meaning people can be closer than needed. If you install taller panels between urinals, this helps provide a safer environment and possibly not need to close off open urinals.
Make Your Stalls Go Higher
Extend the height of your existing toilet partitions from 73” to 92” high, and anything in between in 1” increments, to provide greater division and safety between units. Hadrian offers a No-Sightline Solution that features a full-height continuous stop and hinge side filler to completely eliminate all gaps around the door. Therefore, more privacy and lest airflow to spread germs. Also remember to keep your mask on when using a public restroom and wash your hands thoroughly after.
The best part, after drying your hands, hopefully with a touch-free hand dryer, you don’t need to worry about touching a door handle since you already got rid of the door. Stay safe out there and enhance your public restrooms to keep people safe.
